fancy junk

Last night my dear friend Tracy ( http://www.sellabitmum.com/ ) treated me to a really fun event.  Oh my.

You can find out more about it here:  http://www.aajms.com/ .  It is open through the weekend, so if this sounds like something you would enjoy, head on over to University Ave. in Minneapolis!  It's only $5 a day to go, and I would highly recommend it.

We attended the opening night gala, and wandered the studio loft with wine in hand.  It was an eclectic mix of fun finds and stylish junk, Tracy found a wonderful old trike and a perfect croquet set.
I was on the hunt for things I could buy and repurpose, I picked up an old receipt clip board (perhaps used in a pharmacy or something back in the day?)  And I would show you a picture of it, but they forgot to put it in my bag, and so I will just HAVE to go back today.  I picked up some old clock faces, and some ancient mattress springs, and an old metal slide box.  Please don't ask me what I am going to do with them, as I don't really know yet, but all of those things spoke to me, and told me that I needed to own them.

From dishes to old clocks, garden benches to game boards, metal milk cratess to antique linen, it was like a really fancy yard sale.  With amazing appetizers and demos from a favorite chef of mine-Beth Dooley.  I even got her to autograph the cookbook she wrote with Lucia Watson, back in 1994.  It has long been a favorite, and she liked the fact that my copy was clearly well used (considering all of the spatters and stains and warped pages...)

There were also a couple of jewelry designers there, who specialized in using vintage parts to make new creations, and I was truly inspired to spend some time doing some designing of my own-maybe this weekend!

You can find out more on the http://www.junkmarketstyle.com/ website, I just recently joined up and have been following all of the creativity.  The photo above is from the event, but I borrowed it from their web-site-I hope they don't mind!  It was a place I really wish I had my camera, but I was already balancing a wine glass and a plate of goodies and trying to shop too!

Thanks again Tracy, for such a good time.  You know me pretty darn well.
