happy independence day!

A rare Sunday post to wish you all a day filled with watermelon, fireworks, and thoughts of those you love (both here and gone).  Fly your flags proudly, whether they are giant ones on a flagpole, or tiny ones tucked into windowboxes and flowerpots.

Sometimes I forget how fortunate we are to live in such an amazing country, faults and all.  There was a great article in the St. Paul Pioneer Press today, that detailed out area folks becoming citizens last Thursday.

I want to put it on my calendar, and attend it next year, as I think it would be a very moving ceremony.  A good thing to bring Charlie too, for a bit of a history lesson.

There were literally people from every corner of the globe, and if you asked them, they would be able to tell you all about the Bill of Rights, and the Consititution, all things I doubt I remember much from when I learned them.  Every now and then we need to step back and remember how  lucky we are to live in this very special place, and remember the sacrifices of many who have given us this freedom we so dearly love, and often take for granted.

Happy fourth!  May your fireworks burn brightly and the mosquitos find someone else to nibble on!
