Mari update

Here is the latest info I have on dear Mari: (see original post here: http://ohfercute.blogspot.com/2008/09/random.html )

Since Mari is in such a weakened state, her body has been rejecting the skin grafts the doctors have been trying on her amputated leg, using her own skin from different areas of her body. Yesterday, they used a combination of shark skin and cow skin, and it appears to be working! She has turned a corner, and hopefully things will just get better from here. Isn't technology amazing?

On another note, the person arrested for this horrific crime was in court this week. If convicted of the vehicular offense, he won't get more than a year or two in prison. But he had cocaine in his possession, and it is enough to make it a federal offense, so he may get 24 years for that one. We can only hope that the justice system prevails.
